Deep inside Fishman® Corporation is an operative we call “The Mole.” The Mole rarely comes out of the engineering/product development bunker and is directly wired into the latest technology advancement trends in regards to fluid dispensing in manufacturing. Below is an exclusive look, from a 2008 interview, at a few of The Mole’s goals with the SmartDispenser™ dispensing platform design in regards to the medical device validation process and the future implementation of MES systems into the manufacturing facility.
“In regards to validation we integrated the Windows 7 platform to allow flexibility for an open and closed loop process producing documented verification that actual performance meets the required goal. We also wanted to create a platform allowing digital signing of the documented verification should a medical device manufacturer decide to use the verification data as part of their FDA compliance program. The Windows 7 addition allows the current methods of manual and digital signing such as loading a proprietary digital signing software package, connecting to the local secure server or simply attaching a Windows approved printer for manual signing compliance. A trend we see for 2010 and beyond for both medical device and other industries is cloud based activities. For example, Microsoft® Corporation has made a commitment to Life Sciences/FDA Compliance by using SharePoint® for over the cloud digital signing of documents. The SmartDispenser’s™ flexible platform is designed to seamlessly integrate with SharePoint® and other cloud based advancements as they become available over the next decade. The user will be able to access directly from the manufacturing floor or a laptop, PC workstation or Smartphone using free LogMeIn professional service provided with each SmartDispenser® purchase.”
