Cyanoacrylate, also known as “CA” or “super glue” is an adhesive that is typically used by medical device manufacturers because of its short cure time and great bond strength. CA is available in thin fluids or gels and the adhesive reacts with moisture ions on the surface of the conjoining substrates, creating the bond. Strength of the bond is impacted by the application of the adhesive to the substrates. Too much adhesive may keep the bond from curing properly and too little adhesive can cause the bond to fail. The SmartDispenser® Cyanoacrylate System (or SmartDispenser® CA) eliminates all of the adhesive dispensing problems that are experienced with air driven dispensing systems. Moisture ions present in the air supply to the syringe causes the syringe piston to cure to the syringe barrel. Elimination of air from the dispense process by default eliminates moisture.
The SmartDispenser® CA delivers all of the benefits of the SmartDispenser®. The difference is that the SmartDispenser® CA is completely contained in the polypropylene syringe. Genius™ CA dispensing components are designed specifically for cyanoacrylate dispensing, achieving optimized performance for all CA applications. Genius™ PosiLok™ pistons and tip caps are manufactured with a proprietary plastic that inhibits bonding between the cyanoacrylates and polypropylene. The positive displacement system removes unreliable moisture-filled air from the dispensing process ensuring good bond strength. Genius™ syringes are available in 4 sizes and the thickwall design eliminates flexing. Precision molded zero degree taper assures smooth flow.
The patented AirFree® SmartDispenser® CA Linear Drive System delivers the same amount of adhesive during every dispense with the highest repeatability possible from a syringe reservoir, assuring maximum bond strength. There are three SmartDispenser® CA Linear Drive Systems available: SDAV-CA Linear Drive System, MDAV-CA Linear Drive System, and LDAV-CA Linear Drive System. The SDAV-CA (small dot any viscosity) model should be used for dispense volumes between 0.00023 & 30cc. It is ideal for small dot and long bead dispensing. The MDAV-CA (medium dot any viscosity) model is for dispense volumes between 0.00045 & 30cc. It is ideal for medium dot and medium to short bead dispensing. The LDAV-CA (large dot any viscosity) model is for dispense volumes between 0.0009 &30cc. IT is ideal for large dot dispensing. All models maintain repeatability 6 to 10 times greater than pneumatic systems.
